A 9 day Morocco tour from sea to sea
Looking for the perfect 9 day Morocco tour from Tangier to Casablanca? This private one-way route runs the length of Morocco — from the Mediterranean gateway at Tangier to the Atlantic coast at Casablanca — hitting every layer of the country along the way.
Start in bustling Tangier, cross the Rif Mountains to the sky-blue lanes of Chefchaouen, then dive into Fes — the world's most complete medieval medina and Morocco's spiritual capital. Visit the 2,000-year-old Roman ruins of Volubilis (UNESCO) and the imperial city of Meknes before pushing south to Marrakech and its Djemaa el-Fnaa square. Head into the Atlas foothills for a Berber day in the Ourika Valley, then west to the whitewashed Essaouira coast, before ending at the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca.
This 9 day Morocco tour is 100% private — your own bilingual driver-guide, your own 4WD, your own dates. Premium accommodation throughout. Ideal for travellers arriving by ferry from Spain or flying into Tangier and looking for a north-to-south odyssey that doesn't retrace steps.

Your full 9 day Morocco tour itinerary
Meet-and-greet at Tangier airport or the ferry port (if arriving from Spain), then transfer to your hotel in the medina. In the afternoon, explore this fabled port city — the twisting kasbah, the American Legation Museum, and the panoramic Terrasse des Paresseux overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar. Optional: head out to Cap Spartel where the Mediterranean and Atlantic meet, and the mythological Caves of Hercules. Overnight in Tangier.
After breakfast, drive south into the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen — the sky-blue town whose name means "two horns" after the peaks above. Wander the narrow blue lanes photographers dream of, browse the artisan markets, and sip mint tea in Plaza Uta el-Hammam. Optional sunset hike to the Spanish Mosque for the golden view of the blue city below. Overnight at a local riad.
Depart Chefchaouen and drive south to Fes, Morocco's most fascinating city — the world's last surviving medieval city, virtually unchanged for over a thousand years. Meet your local Fes guide for a first walk through the medina, past the golden Royal Palace gates and into Fes el Bali, home of the historic Karaouine Mosque. Dinner and overnight at a riad in the medina.
A day of layered history. Start at Volubilis — the best-preserved Roman ruins in North Africa (UNESCO), with intricate mosaics still on the floors where they were laid 2,000 years ago. Nearby, visit Moulay Idriss, Morocco's holy city, burial place of the founder of the first Moroccan dynasty.
Afternoon in Meknes, the smallest of the four imperial cities — the monumental gate of Bab al-Mansour, the vast underground granaries of Heri es-Souani, and the elegant Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. Overnight in Meknes.
After breakfast, drive south through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas (you may spot Barbary macaques near Ifrane) and on to Marrakech, the ochre city. Your hotel will be near Djemaa el-Fna square — a UNESCO Intangible Heritage of Humanity site — perfect for an evening stroll among storytellers, snake charmers and food stalls. Overnight in Marrakech.
Head south into the High Atlas foothills to the Ourika Valley — a lush escape 40 km from Marrakech. Visit traditional Berber souks along the riverside, stop at family-run argan-oil cooperatives, and see artisan workshops where local hands still make pottery, woven blankets and jewellery. Optional short hike to the Setti Fatma waterfalls at the valley head. Return to Marrakech for dinner at your riad.
Drive west to the whitewashed fishing town of Essaouira — a Portuguese-built citadel originally called Mogador and known as the "pearl of the south." Visit the Mellah (the historic Jewish quarter), walk the sea-facing ramparts, watch the fishing fleet come in, and enjoy a fresh seafood lunch on the port. Overnight at a riad inside the blue-and-white medina.
Depart Essaouira on the scenic coast road north to Casablanca. Afternoon sightseeing — the Place des Nations Unies, the Boulevard Mohamed V, the residential district of Anfa, the Royal Palace, and the vast Hassan II Mosque. Its 690-foot minaret is the world's tallest, and — unusually for Morocco — non-Muslims can visit inside. Overnight in Casablanca.
After breakfast, transfer to Casablanca airport for your onward flight. End of tour — from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic, and every layer of Morocco in between.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a private tour or a group tour?
100% private. Every departure is just for you and your group — your bilingual driver-guide, your 4WD, your pace. No strangers, no fixed dates.
How much does this Tangier to Casablanca Morocco tour cost?
Prices start from about $1,190 per person, based on 4 travellers sharing premium accommodation in low season. One-way tours cost slightly more than loops because the driver-guide returns to base after drop-off. Solo, couple, family and full 5-star pricing quoted on request within 24 hours.
What makes this different from the other 9 day Morocco tour?
This is a one-way route from the Mediterranean (Tangier) all the way south to the Atlantic (Casablanca), so you don't retrace any steps and see far more of northern Morocco. The other 9 day tour is a Marrakech loop that adds the Ouzoud Waterfalls but skips the north. Pick this one if you want Chefchaouen and the north.
Can I arrive by ferry from Spain?
Yes — many travellers on this route arrive from Tarifa or Algeciras (Spain) via ferry to Tangier. We can meet you at either the port or the airport. Tell us your arrival details in the quote request.
When is the best time to travel?
March–May and September–November are ideal — warm days, cool nights, mild along the coast and comfortable in the imperial cities. Summer is beautiful in the north but hot inland in Marrakech and Fes.
Can we customise the itinerary?
Absolutely. This route is a starting point — add a night in the Sahara desert, swap the Ourika Valley day for the Ouzoud Waterfalls, upgrade to boutique riads, add a cooking class in Fes. Just tell us what you'd love.
How do we book — and how much is the deposit?
Message us on WhatsApp or fill the quick form on this page. We reply within 24 hours with your full itinerary and price. Once you're happy, a 30% deposit secures your dates. The balance is paid on arrival in cash or card.
Other ways to see Morocco
If you'd rather start and end in Marrakech, our 9 Day Morocco Tour: Imperial Cities & Atlantic Coast is a loop that adds the Ouzoud waterfalls. If you want a shorter route with the Sahara instead of the north, see the 7 Day Morocco Tour: Imperial Cities to Sahara. Or go bigger with the 10 Day Berber Trails Tour.
